Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Why is there a "meet and greet"?
A. The meet and greet is the first opportunity to meet in your home, and allows you to get to know our company and our services. During this visit, the owner, Erin will perform the following tasks: introduce myself to you and your pet(s), pick up keys and or garage codes, confirm pertinent information about you and your pet (e.g. vet information, emergency contact, payment information, special requests, etc.), and answer any additional questions you may have. This is our complimentary free visit.
Q. Do you need keys to my house?
A. Yes, we prefer a key in case of any emergency. All keys are tagged and left in a locked safe. However, we will accept a garage door code as well.
Q. Will my pet(s) receive individualized personal attention?
A. Absolutely! We pride ourselves in guaranteeing that your dog(s) will receive the best quality individualized attention for every visit. Typically, this means about 5 minutes of cleaning the dogs off after the walk, writing a detailed note to our client after each walk, refilling water bowls, giving treats, etc. However, we do understand that the needs of every pet are different, so we adjust accordingly.
Q. Do you come to my home to watch my pets?
A. Yes. We provide pet care to pets in their home so they can keep their normal routine.
Q. Where will you walk my dog?
A. Your pet(s) and I will explore your neighborhood blocks and/or the regular route that is provided by you, the owner.
Q. How many pets will be walked at a time?
A. No Group Walking! We walk dogs one at a time, focusing on your pet's individual needs. Only dogs living in the same household will be walked together. If there are multiple dogs living in your household we will only walk two dogs at a time.
Q. Will you use the same obedience words I taught my pet?
A. Absolutely. We would not have it any other way. We will reinforce the general obedience words/ behavior that you have already taught your pet. Through continued and consistent reinforcement training, your pet(s) will enjoy daily walks and exercise, which will help them live longer, happier, and healthier lives.
Q. How will I know that my dog had a walk each visit?
A. We will provide a journal for your pet that will be at your home. After each visit you will receive a hand written note with the date and time of visit. This is available for you to communicate any needs, changes in your pet’s routine or behavior that is important for us to know. We are always available to take your calls or answer emails.
Q. How will we be kept informed of our pet while we are gone?
A. We understand how important it is to have peace of mind about your pet(s). As part of our service, we provide our clients with emails, text, or phone calls, upon request. Please let us know your preference.
Q. Will you administer medication?
A. Yes. We would be happy to administer any medication during the visit. Instructions from the owner may be needed in some cases.
Q. Do you provide references?
A. Yes, references are provided upon request.
Q. Are you insured and bonded?
A. Yes. We are insured and bonded by State Farm.
Q. How do I know how much to pay?
A. We will provide weekly, bi-weekly, and/or monthly invoices for your convenience and for your records of payment. This will be at your preference either emails or paper copy delivered during a visit.
Q. What type of payment do you accept?
A. We accept cash and checks. Please make checks payable to: Indy Dog Walkers.
